Oregon Coast Compilation

This is a compilation of a big shoot along the Oregon coast from Cape Kiwanda to Garibaldi, OR. These are the results of two days and a long night of shooting. This was one of the bigger series I've done just due to the distance/time it took and I feel like I barely scratched the surface of the coast. This first image was the first shot of the trip, it features the Chief Kiwanda Haystack just off the coast of Pacific City, Oregon.

A wide shot of The Three Graces, Garibaldi, Oregon at high tide at night.
This photo shows the Three Graces at high tide in Garibaldi, Oregon. This is a popular tide pooling site on the Oregon coast, and one of my favorite areas of the coast to visit.

A wide shot of the Tillamook bay at sunset.
On this day the sunset surprised us by breaking through the thick fog that had been rolling along the coast the rest of the day. This created a misty effect out in the distance and set the sky ablaze.

A wide shot of Three Arch Rocks National Wildlife Refuge from ontop of Cape Meares in Tillamook, Oregon.
Looking out at Three Arch Rocks from the clifftop at Cape Meares I was able to catch a perfect cotton-candy sunset before heading to the next location. This shot is an HDR composite shot with +2 and -2 exposure to get some really deep tonal range.

A wide shot of Three Arch Rocks National Wildlife Refuge from Symons Viewpoint in Oceanside, Oregon.
This is another shot of the Three Arch Rocks Wildlife Refuge from Symons Viewpoint in Oceanside, Oregon. It was taken with my film camera at a later date, but I felt that it fit the theme of this project so I included it here. The Three Arch Rocks Refuge was declared a national wildlife refuge by Theodore Roosevelt in 1907, after the efforts of conservationists and photographers William L. Finley and Herman Bohlman. It is a testament to the efforts of photographers and how they tie directly into conservation.

A wide shot of the Pacific Ocean bay at sunset, with a fingernail crescent moon hanging high above the horizon.
A crescent moon rises above the sunset at Symons Viewpoint in Oceanside, Oregon. This photo was kind of an afterthought at the time. Just a random shot to capture the colors and the moon together. Although it wasn't planned, this shot gives off the peacefulness I felt standing there, watching the sun set and the moon rise together in harmony.
